Easy Vegan Homemade Oat Milk | Recipe

Updated: Aug 1, 2021

Did you know...

... that cows produce milk for the same reason that humans do: to nourish their babies. But calves on dairy farms are typically taken away from their mothers when they are just a day old and fed milk replacers instead. Calves can’t drink any of the milk that was meant for them because humans take it.

Make a difference to these beautiful animals and mothers, and go dairy free!

There are vegan alternatives to all dairy products - cheese, milk, yogurt and even products that contain dairy, like dairy free curds, toffee and pudding. And what's more, they all taste amazing, so you really won't be missing a thing!

Give our easy oat milk recipe a try today.

You'll need:

200g rolled oats

600ml water

1 tablespoon coconut oil

a pinch of salt

Optional: 2 pitted dates - for added iron

Method:

Combine all ingredients and blend with a high-speed blender.

Let the mix sit for 10 to 15 seconds, before straining it through a cheese cloth.

Transfer to a sealed container or bottle.

This plant-based, homemade oat milk will keep fresh for 3 to 4 days in the fridge.

Note: Oat milk naturally separates, so give it a good shake before each use!
